NORWICH MGOC MEMORIAL RUN 7 September 2008

Five cars attended this ever popular run, two of them celebrating birthdays.. The start was at Norwich Airport with an optional tour of the KLM facilities, and of course the bacon buttie.

Although the weather was a bit damp at times, with some half flooded roads, the well chosen route made it a really good day out. The lunch stop was at the picture postcard village of Heydon where the sun came out and we had a birthday picnic. The finish venue was Snetterton where a classic bike racing meeting was in progress.

The Eastern Evening News photographer was at the start and there was an article in the 8th September edition, from which the photograph below is taken (our thanks to Archant for the copy). EEN Website http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/

ICENI BBQ - 20th July 2008

On Sunday 20th July we held our annual BBQ at Elveden Estates.

29 members enjoyed a short run organised by Alan & Shirley that involved stopping to pick apples from a tree!!!

Elveden provided a superb BBQ meal that we all enjoyed and we had invited Grant Elliot, the Treasurer of Headway, so that we could present a cheque for £2,250 to him as proceeds from the Boadicea Run.

Although the weather was not at it's best we all enjoyed the afternoon and the dogs had a good run!

BOADICEA 2008 - 11th May 2008

We were very pleased to have an entry list of 117 cars to take part in this

Years Run, with a well thought out route of approximately 100 miles on offer,

starting again from the Elveden Estate Complex just off the A11 road.
The route was made up in four sections with an option on the 2nd section

of taking a shorter route if desired, which still led to the same destination

as the longer way to Clare Country Park and a stop for a lunch break, many

took advantage to rest in the shade by the river here. The weather really

was excellent and sun hats were much in evidence.
After the Clare stop, cars set off on the final two sections passing through

several of South Suffolk’s prettiest villages with the chance to stop on Long

Melford Green before ending section 3 at Lavenham famed for its timber

framed houses and fine Church. On leaving here the run headed east for a

while, finally heading north again through Kings Forest and return to Elveden

for the finish, with time to check if raffle prizes had been won and sample

the BBQ.
From reports since received it would seem all had an enjoyable day. The

proceeds from this event will be donated to West Suffolk Headway, a local

charity that helps people with stroke or other brain injuries.
Our grateful thanks to:
Kerridges of Needham Market for the provision of Rally Plates.
Elveden Estates for the use of their grounds and a hamper for the raffle
To all the businesses who helped sponsor the event and the individuals

who kindly donated raffle prizes.
The Iceni Water Company for supplying bottled water to all entrants.
Our Club Members who organised the event and helped in any other way.
Finally to all the participants for making the day such a success.

Comments received on the Boadicea

Just a quick e-mail to say how much we enjoyed the Boadicea Run last Sunday,

the display of cars that turned out was great to see, and meeting other fellow

drivers was great, especially for me, getting the chance to talk to 2 other Magnette

Owners!  The full route was also very enjoyable, and we got the chance to sample

several weak half pints of shandy along the route which for us came out at a mileage

reading of 145 miles!!!  We also liked the raffle prizes.

Yours Safety Fast.

Just a quick note to thank you for organising such an enjoyable day out yesterday.

The route was a very good choice and very suitable for the event I thought, it went

through some very pretty parts of Suffolk in particular, some nice lanes and a minimum

of main roads - well done.
The weather was excellent which really was the cherry on the cake and Elvedon Hall

is a super place to start and finish. All in all a great day out. Thanks once again to

you and all the team responsible, I hope you made a good sum for Headway.

Just wanted to thank you and the Iceni team for such a good run on Sunday. We

thoroughly enjoyed the route which was extremely pretty and made even more

enjoyable because of the weather.

Herbie, the Cocker Spaniel pup, also enjoyed his first ever MG run and meeting

loads of friendly MG people.

Just wanted to drop you a short note to say thank you for the wonderful day on

Sunday 11th May. The route was well planned and took us through some parts of

the countryside that we had not seen before.

Must have taken a lot of planning and organisation.

The weather certainly helped.

Thank you again

See you next year

We had a good turnout for our September evening run, which Jan & Don had organised. Starting from Nowton Country Park again the route commenced with a run through Bury St. Edmunds and then out on to the country roads to the South West of the county, finally to finish at Hartest Crown, where we were expected for dinner. This occasion was also used to celebrate Rogers 60th Birthday. Jan had baked a cake in the shape of a car for him and the room had been decorated with balloons and a banner and treats had been laid on for all to share & enjoy.
Sunday 9th September several of us met at Seething Airfield for the 10th Norwich MGOC Memorial Run. Some of our members had taken part in all 10 of these runs; on conclusion of the run at Snetterton Race Circuit they were given a special award by organiser, Terry Elvy for this. I must commend the Norwich Club for their organisation of this event.
Seething Airfield was the venue again on 23rd September for a Charity Air Day; Norwich MGOC had invited us to join them for this event. The weather was perfect, flying displays superb and much of interest to see, we had a really good day out. During October the Club Committee hope to meet to discuss plans for the winter months and also next Years Boadicea Run.

Our first event for August was to attend The Helmingham Festival of Classic & Sports Cars. There was a wonderful display of some 600 cars exhibiting, and many Clubs represented, also craft & trade shows. Our Club joined with others from the Eastern Region on the MG stand that had been organised by Regional Secretary Peter Thomas. It was good to see a fine display of MGs at this event.
While we were here Shirley Dixon celebrated Her Birthday and had arranged a splendid picnic for us all to share, we all enjoyed a glass of Pimms and the fine fare provided. Thank you Shirley & Alan for sharing this occasion with us.

The first Tuesday of August saw us meeting at Nowton Country Park for the start of an evening run of about 30 miles, the weather on this occasion was not of the best with rain and dark skies, however we still enjoyed a good run without mishap and completed the route to finish up at the Horseshoes near Billingford Mill for a fine meal. Thanks to Chris & Di for organising this run and supplying the draw prizes.

Sunday 19th August was the date set for the Club BBQ. Members met up for an afternoon run prior to the BBQ at a Map location near Tostock, cars set off at intervals for a run in the region of 30miles discovering roads seldom travelled by man or beast, finally to arrive at the Manger in Bradfield Combust the Venue of the BBQ. This occasion was used to make a presentation of £2000 to West Suffolk Headway; this was the proceeds from our Boadicea Run held in May. All agreed another good event enjoyed by all..

14 September 2007

On Sunday 11th September seven ICENI cars attended the 10th running of the Norwich MGOC Memorial Run. The weather was superb and the run was excellent. Roger and Alan received a special award for being 2 of only 7 people who had attended all 10 runs.

For a write up of the run and to see the photos please look at the Norwich MGOC website - http://www.mgcars.org.uk/norwichmgoc/

Iceni MG Owners Club Presentation to Headway

On Sunday 19th of August the Iceni MG owners Club presented a cheque for £2000 to West Suffolk Headway.
This money was raised by the clubs Boadicea Run event on the 20th May in which approx. 100 cars took part.

Attached is a photograph of the presentation at The Manger, Bradfield Combust, and shows Tony Davis and Roger Bear of the club and Joan Fry of West Suffolk Headway.

Eight of our members travelled to Woburn for the Bedford MGOC 6th Bunyan Run on Sunday 6th June. Woburn Abbey did provide a superb setting for the start / finish venue for this event. We enjoyed the route through the Bedfordshire countryside, also our picnic in the park on our return. I was very chuffed to win a set of Castrol Oil Jugs in the raffle. Congratulations to Maggie Goodchild and the members of the Bedford MGOC for this excellent event.

Shirley and Alan organised our Club evening run on 5th June, starting from Nunn’s Bridge Thetford. They gave us an exciting route of about 30 miles through Rural Norfolk, with a good mixture of sections, some needing careful driving (beware of the Horses), others faster, which the MGs really enjoyed! We finished up at The Angel Pub at Larling for a really good meal. Shirley had organised a quiz to tax our brains and also a raffle with proceeds from this going towards the Club BBQ on 19th August (please book your place on this with Roger). We were pleased to see new member Sue Steer with her MG Midget joining us for her first outing with Iceni MGOC.

We were invited to join the Jaguars Drivers Club for their annual Concours Event at Thurston Grange Hotel on 18th June. We were given a warm and friendly welcome. These Jaguar owners are justly proud of their vehicles, as we are of ours!

We began May with another good evening run organised by Tony and Jackie, the members met at West Stow Country Park at 7.00pm, and set off on a mystery tour of the countryside. It was good to see John and Gillian on this run with their new MGB Roadster. The run finished up at Troston Bull for the usual meal and mardle.
A raffle was held to raise funds for our BBQ in August.
The week before the Boadicea run the committee met at Alan and Shirley’s home at Thetford to finalise arrangements for the following Sunday.

Sunday 20th May 07 dawned bright and sunny after a week of uncertain weather for our 8th Boadicea Run. Members arrived at the Elveden Estate Complex (our start venue) at 7.30am. We all set to work erecting the marquee, posting the direction signs and hanging the club banner etc. We also set up a static display of member’s cars including Tony Davis’ race prepared Austin Healy Frogeye Sprite, which only the day before had been competing at Silverstone in the historic Top Hat series of races.
Meanwhile the ladies had been busy setting up the control point for booking in and organising the raffle prizes, also providing helpers with coffee and bacon butties.
Soon the first participants began to arrive to prepare for the run, on booking in they were given the route books, rally plaques and directed to the refreshments.

The route mileage was a little over 100 miles divided into three sections with intermediate stops being made at West Stow Country Park and Lavenham, the latter proved a very popular point of interest with its many timber framed houses and shops. I hope everyone enjoyed the route as it passed through the undulating countryside and villages that make Suffolk so worth a visit.
By mid afternoon cars began to arrive back at Elveden where a BBQ was available at a reduced cost at the Alfresco Courtyard, which many took advantage of and also time to peruse the shops of the Elveden Estate which had a wide range of products on offer. Winners of the raffle were able to collect their prizes before setting off for home. We received many favourable comments on the run and just the odd criticism (there is always one!) however, a good sum of money has been raised which will be donated to West Suffolk Headway a charity that is affiliated to ‘Headway’ The Brain Injury Association.
Our grateful thanks go to all the companies who sponsored this event and those who kindly donated the raffle prizes. Also the Elveden Estate for the use of their grounds, to our band of members who organised the event and those who helped on the day in anyway, and of course to you the participants for making the day what it was, as without you there would be no Boadicea run.
All being well we will be holding a Boadicea run in 2008 and the likely date will be 11th May, so mark this in your diary now!

BOADICEA 2007 - 20th May 2007

What a fantastic day!!

The weather was superb, hot and sunny even at early morning and the clouds did not arrive until late in the day.

85 cars took part and the feedback so far is that everyone enjoyed the start/finish venue and the run.

Our thanks to all who helped make this such a wonderful day, the willing band of helpers, Elveden Estates staff, sponsors, and in particular all the entrants.

It looks as though we will be able to make a significant donation to our chosen charity, West Suffolk Headway, more details later.

Our season of events has started off well with a good turn out for the mini run organised by Richard. This started off from Nowton Country Park. We were pleased to welcome Nigel an Australian MG Enthusiast, who was over here exploring the delights of England in an MGB purchased over here for this purpose and we were also pleased to see new members on the run.
Richard had found us an interesting route through the countryside, with clear instructions, so we all managed to finish up at “The Duke of Marlborough” at Hepworth for an excellent carvery meal. It was good to see old and new friends and to catch up on their latest news. We are looking forward to our 8th Boadicea Run on May 20th; entries were still coming in for this as this article went to press at the beginning of May. I hope by the time you are able to read this, many of you will have enjoyed this event.

We had a good turn out for our AGM on 6th March 07 at The Manger, Bradfield Combust.
Richard our Chairman thanked the Members and the Committee for all their support over the past Year. The election of the committee for the coming Year saw two changes, as some members did not wish to stand again. Virginia was thanked for her service as treasurer, a duty she had carried out very efficiently for several Years. Jan Clarke kindly offered to serve as treasurer in 2007 and was duly elected. Angie also wished to stand down she also has been a loyal member of the committee. Tony Burgess has been elected in her place. The other members being willing to serve again were duly re elected. The full minutes of the meeting have been circulated to the membership.
In my position as secretary, I would like to thank all the members who organised the events which we enjoyed over the past year and look forward to similar support for 2007.
Recently Tony Davis arranged a meal at a Greek Restaurant in Bury St.Edmunds and as was usual a great Success and much appreciated by those attending. Finally a warm welcome to all the new members who have joined us this Year, we look forward to seeing you on our Club Runs that are now getting under way.

Our first Club Night of 2007 was well attended, despite it being a cold frosty night.
The committee had met prior to the main meeting to discuss progress on the forthcoming Boadicea Run and plans for the coming season. By 7.45 members had gathered for Roger’s slide show of The Gabicce Mare event of 2006 this was hosted by the MG Car Club d’Italia. It was good to see our Club well represented at this prestigious International meeting. Those taking part were Roger & Sue Bear MGC GT, Virginia Hull & David Taylor with MGB Roadster” Primrose” and Alan & Shirley Dixon with MG ZT T V8. Roger gave an interesting commentary on the slides we were shown, the photography was superb. What an adventure! and thank you Roger for sharing this with us all. For a full account of this, visit our web site on www.Iceni-mg.org.uk.
We were pleased to welcome Nick Short and Robert Sanderson to our Club at this time with a view to membership.
Sadly the weekend trip to France has been cancelled for the time being. However the first of the seasons mini – runs is on schedule for the first Tuesday of April 07 organised by Richard & Daphne Pike. Start Venue to be advised .

From November 2006 to April 2007 we will meet on the first Tuesday of the month at "The Manger" Bradfield Combust -due to this change of venue there will be no evening meeting in October 2006.

Ivan, Janet, David and Virginia travelled to the North West for the 14th Annual Pendal Run which took place on the week end of 22nd/23rd July. They reported this was a splendid run of about 85 miles through the Ribble Valley and into the Yorkshire Dales, with wonderful views all round. They were all impressed with the full buffet being served on their return also the entertainment being provided by the group called "The Pleasers". Thanks to the Burnley and Pendle MGOC for their warm welcome and hospitality at this event.
On a more local level, members of the Iceni Club enjoyed the last of this seasons evening mini runs. This one was organised by Alan and Shirley Dixon, starting from Nunns Bridge, Thetford we had an interesting run round some of the back roads of Norfolk to finish at a pub just outside of Attleborough. Shirley and Susan had arranged a Quiz to tax our fuddled brains, also a draw for a selection of prizes donated by members and to round things off an auction was conducted by our very own Master of Ceremonies Chris Heys. The proceeds of these events to be donated to the Cat rescue home at Newmarket. (Total £111.50).
On 13th September a Club Committee meeting was held at the "Flying Fortress" when the past Year was reviewed and plans made for future events during the winter months to come - please see the club website for further details. It has also been proposed that we will organise a Boadicea Run for 2007 the provisional date is suggested as 20th May 2007. A sub- committee will be formed to plan this event.

On Sunday 17th September - several of our members took part in the Norwich MGOC 9th Memorial Run. We met up with friends for the start at Thorpe Abbott's Museum (100th Bomber Group) after we had our bacon butties and coffee we set off on the 72 mile route visiting WW2 Airfields and Memorials to the airmen of the RAF and USAAF the final destination was the Snetterton Race circuit where a memorial to the 96th Bomber group is situated. After having checked in at the finish of the run and receiving our mementoes, we were able to enjoy the sights and sounds of Classic Motor Cycle racing on the circuit. This as always was an excellent run, very well organised and a credit to the Norwich MGOC. We look forward to the 10th Memorial Run in 2007.

Letter received from Newmarket Cats

Newmarket Cats - registered charity 1089460

It was such a fantastic surprise to receive your letter and the wonderful donation of £111.50 from the Iceni MG Car Club.

We are still working very hard as a small rescue group - and have just rescued a beautiful silver tabby mother cat (Winny) and her four babies from a garden in Mildenhall. We had a similar rescue a few weeks ago, with Poppy and her three babies from a garden in Snailwell. We undertook a massive rescue earlier in the year, but we ar finding some wonderful homes - even though sometimes we have to wait until we are sure we have found the perfect home.

We are at present caring for around 30 cats and kittens in and around the Newmarket area, and now we have fosterers, including myself. Every year is different, each with its own challenges, but always with the same aim - which is to help wherever we can in all the different and difficult circumstances our little charges find themselves, through no fault of their own.

Thank you again for your kindness and warmest greetings to you all at the MG Car Club

with best wishes

Yours sincerely

Jancis Harvey

Club Mini Run 1st Tuesday of Month
Phone for start venue

1st August saw the Iceni Club meeting at Tescos car park Stowmarket for the start of another interesting mini run. This was organised by Chris and Diane Wilson. Chris set us off at timed intervals to avoid convoys being formed. The route was about 27 mile long mainly on rural back roads, which enabled us to see villages and countryside which are often missed at other times, but well worth a visit. At a point along the way we had to locate a particular cottage, stop and collect a draw ticket, the winner to be drawn at the end of the run, a Gold prize was promised. Our final destination proved to be "The Retreat" at Stowupland where a splendid Buffet had been arranged. After having eaten our fill the draw was made - the prize a golden jar of local Honey. Thanks to Chris & Diane for a fun night.

Our annual BBQ on the 6th August was another resounding success. 31 members enjoyed a 50-mile drive through some of the prettiest parts of Suffolk south of Bury St. Edmunds, a delightful mixture of small winding roads and more open "B" roads through rolling fields and picturesque towns. The BBQ venue was at the "Six Bells" at Felsham. Sue and Roger had organised two quizzes to test our knowledge. We were treated to a good spread followed by a slice of Shirley's Birthday cake. The weather was so good we were able to sit outside in the Sun until darkness fell prompting it was time to head for home. A most enjoyable day. Many thanks to Virginia and David for organising another terrific event. ( BBQ report from Roger Bear ).

First a word of welcome to two new members who have joined us this month, They are Michael Barrell and Terry Woodham from Stowmarket. Welcome to Iceni MGOC.

The July mini-run was organised by Don & Jan took place on a perfect summer evening, with a very good turn out of MGs ,As usual.the route was well thought out and took in parts of Suffolk which are often missed by users of main roads. The final venue was a village Pub, which catered for all our needs.

On one of the hottest Sundays of the month four of our members took part in The Kings Lynn DMC Vintage and Classic Car Rally.
This excellent event allows cars of all makes over 20 years old to compete, Starting from Lynford Hall Hotel Mundford we set out on the first stage of the route, after 62 miles a lunch halt was made at Fakenham Racecourse, during this break, judging of entrants took place by competitors in their classes. After the lunch halt the Rally continued on a scenic route of about 36 miles to the finish at the National Trust's Blickling Hall, near Aylsham, parking within the grounds. By this time ice creams & cold drinks were eagerly sought?
Presentation of Class Trophies and Plaques took place after 4.30pm at the front of the Hall.
Our Club was Represented by Ivan Baker (MGB GT) Tony Burgess (MG Midget) Steve Cook (Porsche) and myself in my faithful MGB GT. We then dispersed for the long hot Journey homewards.
As I write this we are looking forward to our summer BBQ and run scheduled for 6th August. Thanks to David & Virginia for this Event.

Helmingham Hall in Suffolk stage a Clasisc Car event each year and it is to be on 6th August this year. There are various admission prices depending on what you want, from basic at £0 if pre booked to £20.00 for cream teas and 'premier' parking but by just turning up on the day you pay £7.00 per person. All proceeds go to charity so it is a worthwhile event. I know some areas already attend this and I think it would be good if we all went. See Helmingham Hall web site for more details & info.

I have received the following from Tony Davis:-

Dear members

We  ended 2005 with two good events, the Christmas get-together at Peggottys was very enjoyable evening and although I was forced to cancel the Post Christmas Run because of bad weather we still enjoyed a very nice meal and quiz at The Three Kings, Fornham

I hope to use the route for the Post Christmas Run on another occasion but have as yet not decided on a date. It may be in February but I will keep you posted. Another date to be arranged is the Annual Dinner again I will keep you posted

The AGM will take place on 7`h March at the Flying Fortress, please be there 7 30 for 8pm start.

Our first Tuesday Evening Run will be 4r'' April, as this is soon after the AGM.. if anyone would like to volunteer to organize this before the AGM it would be much appreciated. Please contact me if you are interested.

 Regards

Tony Davis

P .S. Don't forget the AGM, have a say in what happens in your club!

Tony has received the following from Peter Thomas, Eastern Regional Secretary, 14 Abinger Way, Eaton, Norwich, NR4 6NA. Tel:01603 501089:-

Dear Tony

A Happy New Year to you. There are a few items for your thoughts for the coming year

Firstly Nigel Hedges of the Southern Region is pushing his weekend away for all UK areas. It is at Cricket St Thomas, Somerset on the weekend 12/15th May. Several members from Eastern England are booked to go. Nigel has asked that I ensure everybody knows about this weekend which is advertised on page 53 of the January 2006 edition of Enjoying MG.

Second, if we are to hold another Regional event this year at Rougham Airfield, the organisers there have asked that we attend their Wings Wheels and Steam Country Fair on the weekend of 24th /25th June. Overnight camping is available to driver and one passenger per car if attending on both days which the organisers are pressing us to do. I am aware most people do not want to go to these events for two days but we may be able to offer something for the (unpopular) Saturday.

This does not stop us attending the Air Display weekend in August but as this is very popular we cannot be guaranteed a space of our own. We are welcome back for the October event as per 2005.

Please let me know if your group can make the June dates provided it does not clash with any other events. Once I have heard I will contact Rougham for more details.

Third, It has been suggested that each of the 9 areas in Eastern England could organise one event at a place of interest( local to them to which all the other areas would be invited. As a result the Cambridge area have already invited all areas to attend their ‘Picnic' at Wimpole Hall on 11th June. Please pass this on to your members and again let me know if a) you can arrange a group meeting and b)if you can make Wimpole Hall .

Hopefully we can all get together this year sometime.

Yours sincerely Peter Thomas

Just a reminder about the Christmas Get Together at Peggotty's on Tuesday 6th December.

The time is 7.30 for 8,  and Tony has parking for about 10 cars in his yard.

The club has had to pay a deposit of £10 per person and it is therefore important that
all those who have said they are coming, do in fact turn up.

12th November 2005
Tony has received the following letter from Peter Thomas the MGOC Eastern Area
Regional Secretary:-

After our first Regional Meeting at Rougham Airfield in October, to which 5 areas attended, including several members from Iceni, I am planning to have another similar meeting at that location next year.

Currently I am in discussion with the organisers to see which of the 3 events they hold each year where classic cars are present would be the best for both them and us.

The 3 weekends are:

24/25th June Wings, Wheels & Steam country fair

19/20th August Rougham Air Display which incorporates the British Sports Car weekend

30 Sept/ 1st Oct. Ploughs to Propellers 1940's weekend.

On paper the event in August would appear to suit us best but this is a popular event and the organisers cannot guarantee we would have a suitable area. However, I am talking to them about this. The organisers have written to me thanking us for attending in October and saying how much we were appreciated on the day. Hopefully this will assist me in my negotiations! In the meantime would you all incorporate these 3 weekend in your plans for next year on a provisional basis until I can confirm which one will be our main event.

Some areas may like to attend all 3 events

Many thanks  Peter Thomas

7th September 2005

Our final evening run of the year took place last night. As usual Alan and Shirley did us proud with an excellent run and venue. This was a new location for us and I am sure it will become one of our regulars. A draw was organised by Shirley and Virginia with the prizes going to the right people. Thanks Alan and Shirley.

I would have thought that Virginia was attractive enough to get all the attention she needs without trying to blow up her engine.

During the evening our secretary Tony Davis announced some events for the Autumn  as follows:-

Saturday 2nd October
Plough and Propeller Regional Meeting at Rougham. It is hoped that we will be represented by a fair number of cars,
Alan Dixon is the contact for this. Tel: 01842 755208

5th August 2005

The following letter has been received from Newmarket Cats.

Dear Chris.

What a wonderful surprise to receive your cheque this morning for £75 from the Iceni MG Owners Club. Thank you so much - l have just phoned Sue, she is over the moon - and we have talked over the possibility of purchasing an incubator for her premature kittens. This will start us on the project.

We are holding our annual garden party in aid of Newmarket Cats, to celebrate our fourth birthday - at 24 Edgeborough Close, Kentford - on Saturday 13th August from 2 pm - 6 pm. We have our usual and interesting array of tombolas, plus refreshments, including teas, coffees, home made cakes, summer spritzers and a chance to catch up with friends from the group, and a few ferals, if you can find them. Admission donation on the door to include all refreshments is £2. Do hope to see you and thank you as always for your loyal and most appreciated support. As with all events in Kentford, this is strictly an adults only occasion, due to the nervous cats on the premises and the smallness of the garden, house, etc. Therefore, we respectfully request - No Children Please.

Thank you and all your members again for your fantastic support which is a wonderful boost to our funds and a great boost to our sometimes flagging egos. With our kindest and most appreciative wishes;

Jancis Harvey

The following letter has been received from West Suffolk Voluntary Association for the Blind

Dear Ian

Would you please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all those MG owners and, in particular, Iceni MG Owners club members who contributed in all manner of ways toward the generous £1900 donation to the Association.

The Club's unstinting support in organising the rally, including attendance at the `press call' to mark the occasion at our recent AGM is greatly appreciated. As worthwhile events like this are rare in our calendar it will feature prominently in our forthcoming members' newsletter.

The money raised represents a significant contribution toward our work in West Suffolk. In practical terms this means helping the blind and visually impaired lead independent lives with dignity and self-respect. Moreover, it means the provision of help and welfare support to many individuals where, otherwise, sight loss means isolation, despair and vulnerability.

With thanks yet again to the Rally organisers for all the hard work they put in to ensure such an excellent result on our behalf,

Yours sincerely

Alan Webster
Executive Manager

Comments received on the Boadicea

We now know that whatever the "Weatherman" may say, the Boadicea Run will probably have beautiful weather!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Run, as we did last year.  Thank you so much for arranging such a super route again, and for the impeccable organisation.

Thanks to you & your helpers for another enjoyable day on the highways & byways of Suffolk. Unfortunately we couldn't bring the Sevens as they were grounded on Saturday afternoon after rainstorms of biblical proportions hit Norfolk! Looking forward to next year!

My wife and I took part in our first Boadicea Run last weekend and we would like to thank you for organising what for us was a most enjoyable day.  I know that masses of work go into these events all uncounted and repaid by the enjoyment of others.  The route was excellent, the instructions clear, the venues well selected and the company interesting (My take home pick of the day was the biscuit and black Austin)
